Here are the settings from the two macro shots above.

Shell 1:  1/2 second at f3.5, ISO 400.  Candle was to the right of the shell just slightly in front of the shell.

Shell 2:  4 seconds at f8.0, ISO 400.  Lighting was as shown above in the setup shot.

The camera was on a tripod and I focused manually with the lights on.  Then I would turn the lights off and click the shutter.

Also, I was using the mirror-lockup function and had the camera on the timer setting to ensure that I didn&#039;t contribute to camera shake with my hand.
