Today is my wife’s birthday so I didn’t try to do anything too ambitious in terms of photography. Plus, I had a 7AM meeting work meeting so I was pretty limited on shooting time. So just before I took off for work, I snapped this photo of one of our dogs, Sherman. We got him from a rescue in the summer of 2005.
He is a super sweet dog, but he absolutely will not tolerate people petting one of our other 2 dogs without him getting pets at the same time. He will insert himself right between you and the dog you are already petting to ensure that he gets some lovin’ too. Our nicknames for Sherman include Perm, Permeus, Shermanator, and Yellow.

When I was growing up, my parents had this piggy bank lying around the house and I always thought it was funny and cool. The dude’s head is as big as his body. He has furry eyebrows and a curly mustache. His arms would move up and down and you could turn his head side to side. And if you wanted to access the coins you needed to pull off the guy’s head. All pretty fun stuff if you’re a kid.
The piggy bank is probably somewhere between 45 and 50 years old. When I was helping my mom move a few months back, I saw it and asked if I could keep it. She said, “yes,” and now Nate gets to have fun pulling the little guy’s head off!
